Hundreds of thousands of whales and dolphins are killed in fishing nets every year. Fishing nets in the open sea are invisible to cetaceans and their sonar capibilities until they are already entangled in them. Because whales and dolphins are air breathers who live in the sea, they can only remain underwater for brief periods of time. When they become entangled in fishing nets and are held under water by the entanglement they drown, just like any human being would in the same situation. This cetacean murder by fishing net negligence must end now.
